Wie weet hier iets over toevallig?
On the Island Movie 18 January 2015 · ON THE ISLAND MOVIE FAQ Hello, everyone! I receive questions about the movie adaptation of On the Island frequently enough that I've decided to list them here. If you have a question that I haven't addressed, please leave it in the comments and I'll swing by in the next couple of days to answer them. 1) Hey, I heard On the Island is going to be a movie? Is that true? MGM optioned On the Island for a feature film in the spring of 2012. Temple Hill Productions, whose latest projects include The Fault in Our Stars and The Maze Runner, signed on to produce. Im happy to report that the option is current and the project is in development. However, Im only able to share updates that MGM and Temple Hill have given me permission to share. Trust me, no one is more eager to share where we are right now than me! As soon as I receive the go-ahead, Ill post the information on my website and social media channels. 2) Is there anything we can do to help On the Island become a movie? What if we start a crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter? Ive received lots of messages like this and while I love everyones enthusiasm, the project is currently under contract with MGM and Temple Hill (see above), which means the rights are no longer available to anyone else. No one (other than MGM and Temple Hill) has the legal right to move forward with the project. But if youd all cross your fingers and send positive vibes, Id certainly appreciate it! 3) Will you have any input into the script? Are you worried that MGM will ruin your story? I do not have any input into the script, but my contract allows me to address the addition of story elements that are too far removed from the original source material. For example, if pirates, dinosaurs, or aliens show up in the final script, Ill definitely have something to say about it. As for worrying about the storyline being preserved: MGM would not have bought the rights to the book if they were going to turn around and eliminate everything that made the readers fall in love with the story in the first place. But while books tell a story with words, movies tell a story with images. No adaptation follows a book 100%, so there will be things that are different. However, I feel very strongly that On the Island couldnt be in better hands, and trust that MGM and Temple Hill will deliver the movie everyone is hoping for. 4) Who do you want to see cast in the lead roles? If I send you my resume and/or head shots, will you consider me for one of the parts? I think Shane Harper would make a great T.J. and either Minka Kelly or Keira Knightley would be wonderful in the role of Anna. If given the chance, Ill lobby hard for Ashton Kutcher to play Annas ex-boyfriend John and John Goodman to play seaplane pilot Mick. But I have no control over this and a big factor on who is cast will depend on WHEN the movie gets made. The ages of the lead actor and actress will definitely come into play on this film. As for sending me your resumes and headshots, Ive already received a few and theres nothing I can do to help you with this. I wish I could, but not only am I not involved in the casting process, its completely outside my area of expertise. 5) Will you have a chance to visit the movie set during filming? I sure hope so. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and Ive asked my agent to please do everything she can to make it happen. 6) Will you attend the premiere? Yes, it is specifically stated in my contract that myself and a guest (I will take my husband) will be flown to the premiere. This is, again, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I would be incredibly blessed and grateful to experience. 7) How do you know for sure that On the Island will make it to the big screen? Unfortunately, I dont. Hollywood is an extremely fickle place and movie projects die all the time. MGM is very enthusiastic about the adaptation, but theres still no guarantee that the movie will happen. I always say that if On the Island doesn't make it to the big screen, it was still very nice to be asked.
